Jazzy Cafe bar
Where the name says it all, Jazzy Cafe Bar is exactly that – “Jazzy”… a spirited, energetic and wholesome eatery that brings Sydney-siders top-notch coffee, made-with-love food, along with a vibrant environment.

Based in snazzy *jazzy* Surry Hills, Founders Nina and Jordan have created magic in what used to be the home of Queen of the Underground, Kate Leigh. Creating a beautiful space that offers everything fresh, healthy and delicious.
Jordan’s love of jazz and creative design brings a unique atmosphere with immaculate attention to detail and artistic flair. An eclectic collection of jazz art, handmade and lovingly forged design details bring new life to used musical instruments.
After coaching the National Rhythmic Gymnastics team for many years, Nina’s passion for fresh, healthy and inspired cuisine now comes to the fore with tasty, made in house offerings . Whether part of the morning rush or a break from your day, the aim is to deliver an experience worthy of your time.
Jazzy is a platform for establishing connections and creating relationships between locals, as well as historic icon for visitors to Sydney’s Surry Hills, located at the Light Rail stop.
Code word – Is mum in? – watered thousands in Sydney when the sale of alcohol after 6pm was banned in 1916.
Run by legendary “Queen of the Underworld”, Kate Leigh, this was where businessmen and politicians flouted the law after a hard day at work. At her height, Kate had over 20 such establishments and 212 Devonshire was the grandest and most well-known –by far the gem in her shady empire.
Extravagant, with a diamond on every finger, she also had a sweet for every child and a community Christmas celebration every year.
With over 700 mourners at her funeral, Kate was the true Mum of Surry Hills and the East.
So, Sydney, if it’s not just wholesome and tasty food you are after, but a quirky and energetic atmosphere to match, let Jazzy Cafe Bar be the next place on your bucket list!
I will definitely be returning… hungry, and I cannot wait for them to open for their dinner menu (which is coming soon!).
